The Town Caboose was installed in 1995, two years after completing work on the replica depot station. Overseen by former Mayor David Coleman, Alderman Sarah Benson and Thompson's Station Community Association President Cherry Jackson, the unloading was quick and easy. It would later be painted red and yellow for the L & N line (Louisville/Nashville) that originally ran on these tracks.
